About

I grew up in a home where loving someone different than you was a not a huge, revolutionary idea. Since my parents were house parents in a children's home, I had "brothers" all the way from China and Ethiopia to the inner city neighborhoods of Houston. My parents didn't have to explain how to love someone, I saw it acted out in their lives on a daily basis.

As I grew older, my love for different cultures continued to grow as well. I believe that this is a love straight from the Father-the same Father who lovingly called me to a relationship with Him when I was 7 years old. As I became more aware of His saving grace, I knew that His love was the root of my interest in culture. It's so beautiful how He has placed people in my life to help stretch and grow me in these areas.

In October 2012, I took this love to West Africa where it has been the most amazing journey so far. This blog is a compilation of some of the sights and stories that I experience on a daily basis. This journey hasn't been easy in every aspect, but it's so more than worth it.

I'm also the cliche coffee lover, football season anticipator, and horribly flawed girl that is shown continual grace. Come laugh, cry, and get caught up in the crazy life that happens when you find yourself living in a small town in West Africa. So glad you stopped by!
